This ain’t no ‘In Da Club’…nor is it another ‘My Love’ (2 of my all time Favs)… but this is what u get when u get Curtis, JT and Timbaland to collaborate…

Cent couldn’t compete with Kanye’s sales despite all the ‘50 CENT v/s Kanye West’ publicity gimmick going on before the launch of their albums and the major expectation. But this single is playing No.1 on my playlist nowadays.

PS: Parental discretion is advised…:d

ICGE 2007

23Dec07

The past three days, have been shuttling between SRM and Anna. Took part in a social entrepreneurship business plan competition the day preceding the conference, i.e. on the 19th. Andhra and I got together just hours(1am -3am!) before the contest and came up with a few social causes that we could portray in addition to our existing business plan on HR. Was fully drenched in the rain that early morn when I got home. Just didn’t want a cold to hit my voice, god willing it didn’t. The biz plan didn’t go all that well, we tried putting in a lotta things and didn’t keep track of time there!

Coming back to the conference, it was really good. The hospitality was great, food k, and a couple of sessions were pretty informative. On the first day, I really enjoyed the discussion on ‘Women Entrepreneurship’ by Ms. Saundarya Rajesh, Ms. Nina John and Ms. Ranjini Manian. I initally though that it was going to be a feminist forum given the name of the session, and was wondering if I should head home (:d), I still had a project report to submit at the CII office the next day(for the iTALENT competition)! damn LAST MINUTE LAST MINUTE!

Anyway Ms. Rajesh’s speech was ‘practical’ personified. I was able to relate to it as it was about the recruitment industry, something that I wanna plunge into. A good idea that she has incorporated into the firm’s lines is to place interim women professionals in flexi-time and part-time jobs. Incorporating that and my ideas, a few of which I have jotted on my biz plan is a sure recipe for success.

Headed home and after another partial night out, got ma proj report ready for iTALENT. Gotta thank Arvind and Nithya for finishing the other one that am associated with. :) . Gotta start on some more ground work and the implementation of that soon.
Next day, I took my time and reached the conference around 11am. Was looking forward to meeting Sarath Babu. I had also made up my mind to trade my visiting card with maximum resourceful indis. Exchanged cards with Sarath and Shalin jain and Katsutoshi Ayano to name a few. Both the speeches really brought out their mindset in throwing away fat sals or the chance to land a great job, to startup their ventures. This session on ‘youth entrepreneurship’ was amazing. I was speaking to Shalin to deliver the same lecture in our coll, for every wannabe techie-entrepreneur will be able to connect with it. Guess I ll have to trouble him in Jan. :D

My paper ‘How to Complete the Personnel Jigsaw’, a review of practices that HR entrepreneurs should adopt and other innovations that can be brought in, was scheduled at 0830 today! Decided to catch the bus to be there on time. However, a few people took a LOTTA time presenting their papers and mine was shifted to the last session of the conference. It was also going to be the last presentation of the conference! It might sound cool that the youngest delegate of the conference gets the chance to close the last session of the conference, but not when there are 200+ people just waiting to grab a plate and feast on the Srm buffet in the adjacent hall( My paper was at 2 and the last break was at 10,so you can understand how desp ppl were to get up and move out). Threw a few one-liners before I started and the audi was with me, listening with utmost attention. Ahem.

Had a great time making a lotta new friends there, just didn’t feel that i had registered alone! For my phone’s brimming with SRM contacts. Anyway, pulling Aby’s leg once every min became a habit by the time the conf ended. Maybe I should go to all these events alone to get to know a lot more people. Hmmm…will be uploading the pics and the official vid when I get my hands on em.

CNN IBN’s come out with the Movie of the year 2007 award. The Boss is in the lead, and

LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY!

I AM LEGEND

15Dec07

I am legend

Back from ma native in Kerala, I was raring to breathe the evening air at Sathyam Cinemas. Read the papers on Thurs morn when I landed and knew that Big Willie’s next movie was to be simultaneously released the next day! Logged onto thecinema that very instant and booked two tickets for Friday’s evening show. Prasanna and I just about made it just in time for the show!

The movie was K, but Will does not disappoint.Umm umm! He surpassed my expectations with his amazing performance. The movie’s plot is the same old ‘virus-turns-man-into-runnin-around-zombie’. As usual, you won’t find the entire storyline here. :d

Francis Lawrence, the same bloke who directed Constantine, wields the necessary concoction of scares and emotions in this one, adapted from the novel by Richard Matheson. ‘I am Legend’ perfectly and I mean PERFECTLY portrays the emotions of a man who hasn’t been in touch with civilization for a LONG time. ‘Cast Away’ was a different ball game, there Hanks had to begin from the Stone Age. Here ‘Dr. Richard Neville’ hunts deer in his Dodge, wears Corduroys, watches DVDs to while away time, and tees off from F-16s! But there’s not a single soul in sight. Just him and his German Shepherd, Sam, in the Big Apple and oh yeah, a couple of mannequins! Watch the movie and you ll know why I mentioned ‘em here.

There are quite a few memorable scenes in IAL. The scene where he runs into a ‘hive’ in a dark house is sure to push you to the edge of your seat. The visual effects aren’t that great though, quite often resembling a video game. Another is the one where Sam and he confront a couple of infected dogs. Will surpasses himself in the scene after that where he kills his only companion, Sam, as its infected with KV, the virus repsonsible for wiping out 5.4 billion off the face of the Earth!

The mindset of a person secluded from everything for more than a 1000 days is shown exquisitely. Will even hits on this brunette mannequin at the video store(But doesn’t go further than that:D)! And falls into a trap set by the zombies walking toward his ‘friend’ from the store, Fred, a mannequin! Because to him, they are alive and well. Dr.Neville is so alone and lonely that he even pleads with a mannequin to say a Hello to him! Then when a family befriends him, he is unable to interact with them as a norm person. The psychological aspect truly grips you.

The movie has a spiritual touch to it towards the end and you understand why the movie is titled so. The lady who shows up in the second half was not that good looking according to Pras, but I was thinking “what the hell…anyway they aren’t gonnamake out, then what”.:P. When was the last time you saw a major Afro American star kiss a white girl, American or Caucasian, on-screen in a MOTION PICTURE. Did Julia kiss Denzel in ‘The Pelican Brief’ ! And Eva Mendes doesn’t count in this one! Anyway coming back to the movie…

The role offers a lotta scope to demonstrate Will’s acting talent and maybe this is why he chose to do another Sci-Fi movie! Be it when his wife fails the test to board a chopper, or they are about to lift off, or when he kills his dog, presented to him by his daughter, or when he recites the dialogues in Shrek, or when he or in the climax. He delivers all through the movie, a power-packed performance! Am cribbing so much because its been a long time that I saw such a performance!

A legend in the making! He delivers in every movie, be it comedy or action. The way he chooses his scripts and executes them on celluloid is truly great. He moves over Denzel with this one!

The ‘Prince of Bel-Air’ is definitely in the running to be the ‘King of Beverly Hills’.

If you are looking for an ‘ID4′ kinda flick or another action packed ‘iRobot’, this ain’t it. But you will enjoy this movie if you appreciate great acting and a few scenes to trigger your emotions. Fun factor wise a 2.5/5 . Catch it for Will.
